Research Manager, Global Projects & Partnerships, Candid
Supriya Kumar is a research manager of global projects and partnerships at Candid. She supports the organization’s quantitative and qualitative research and data-driven initiatives with the goal of advancing knowledge and practice in philanthropy. Prior to joining Candid, she was an analyst at China Beige Book, where she analyzed and interpreted economic, financial, and labor market data for The China Beige Book™, one of the most comprehensive private surveys conducted on the Chinese marketplace. She also served as the communications manager for the Worldwatch Institute, an environmental research organization. She holds a Master’s degree from the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree from American University where she majored in international relations.
Candid and Native Americans in Philanthropy together launched Investing in Native Communities, a free web portal designed to give funders the information they need to support Native causes, and encourage them to do so.
Current data show that funders tend to be reactive in their disaster grantmaking. With the increased frequency and intensity of events, however, a strategic approach is more and more important.
