Joe Behaylo is the director of grants management for the Open Society Foundations. Grants management is responsible for executing funding decisions and administering awards in compliance with statutory requirements and the Open Society Foundations’ policies and procedures. Behaylo and his team also work to improve and streamline grant-making operations through the adoption of innovative technologies and industry best practices.
Behaylo’s previous experience includes work as a grant writer for the New School for Social Research, and helping provide humanitarian relief under the auspices of the UNHCR during the Bosnian War of 1992–1995. He has an MPA from New York University and a BA in international relations from Michigan State University. Behaylo has served as a board member of the Grants Managers Network and as a member of the Council on Foundations’ annual conference committee for foundation operations.
In this roundtable we’ll provide a series of real world case studies and lead a discussion of practical lessons that grantmakers have learned as they’ve researched, selected, and worked with online philanthropic system providers to implement new integrated systems.
