Paying True Indirect Costs: Changing Our Internal Practices and Engaging Grantees

506 Samish

Financially strong organizations are better able to achieve the impact they’re working toward, and that we as funders are seeking. Yet, we know there is a chronic nonprofit “starvation cycle” undermining the health of the sector. A growing group of grantmakers have been working together, and with a range of financial experts and sector intermediaries, to explore and pilot solutions.

This interactive session will document existing practices and solicit new ideas for engaging grantee partners in the conversation, so nonprofits can not only recover their core costs, but also innovate, grow, and thrive. The session will seek ideas on strategies that equip nonprofits to tell their financial story to funders, and that give foundation staff the tools to respond.
